Ice blocks from a block ice machine

Block Ice Machines

Moulds frozen in a brine tank give large, dense blocks. Block ice melts slowly, so it works well for long-distance shipping and places without cold storage.

The number in the model name is the number of moulds in the tank. Daily capacity is based on three freezing cycles per day; freezing time ranges from 6 to 8 hours depending on water temperature. All models use a stainless steel tank, an agitator motor that circulates the brine, an air-cooled condenser and R404A refrigerant. Specifications are subject to change without notice.

What is a block ice machine?

Large, dense, slow-melting block ice

A block ice machine makes ice in moulds placed in a brine (salt water) tank. The moulds are filled with water and freeze for 6 - 8 hours in the chilled brine; freezing time varies with the water temperature. When the cycle ends, the moulds are lifted out and the ice blocks are removed.

Because block ice is dense, it melts much more slowly than cube or flake ice. That is why it is used for cooling dough, transporting fish and food, in the cold chain and for cooling concrete. Each block weighs about 5 kg (about 7 kg on the 50KA).

We design the machines at our facility in İzmir and do the welding and assembly ourselves. We offer four models from 10KA to 50KA to match your daily need, and we build custom solutions for larger capacities and containerised mobile ice plants.

FAQ

About block ice machines

How does a block ice machine work?

Moulds filled with water are placed in a chilled brine (salt water) tank. The brine turns the water in the moulds into block ice. When freezing is complete, the moulds are lifted out of the tank and the ice blocks are removed.

How long does block ice take to freeze?

On average 6 - 8 hours, depending on the water temperature. Running about 3 cycles a day, the daily capacity of the models ranges from 150 kg to 1 ton.

Which industries use block ice?

Bakeries cool dough with it, and it is used in food production, fishing, cold-chain logistics and concrete cooling in construction. Slow-melting dense blocks suit these jobs well.

Which capacity should I choose?

Look at your daily ice need. The 10KA or 20KA suits small bakeries and patisseries, the 30KA mid-size facilities, and the 50KA large facilities. If you are unsure, write to us and we will work out your daily need together.

What are the power and installation requirements?

The 10KA and 20KA run on 220V/50Hz single-phase, the 30KA and 50KA on 380V three-phase. We deliver the machines with commissioning, staff training and spare-part support.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the model and capacity. Tell us your need through the quote form or on WhatsApp and we will give you a specific price.
